Praiano: The "gold sunset" village.
Praiano is a small fishing village also well equipped for tourism. It was the summer residence of the Doges, chosen by King Carlo I D'Angiņ to be the seat of theUniversity.
In Praiano you must visit the parish church of San Luca Evangelista in which the relics of the saint are revered and one can admire some of the paintings lof Giovanni Bernardo Lama, an artist of the 1500's.
Another famous monument is the church dedicated to San Gennaro.
Of great beauty is the plolychroniatic, multi-colured tilde dome; the belfry dates back to the end of the XVIII century.
Once in Praiano there were laboratories for silk-making, yarn and coral then aboundant in these sea. New times have arrived, the adventures of the youngster of well-to-do families from the regional capital, Naples, burst out in the hotel and nightclubs housed in the caves along the coast.
A tradition all, the whole Amalfi Coast is one big tradition. A tradition helped by the quality of tourists services offered and, naturally, by the enchantment of a landscape that smells of orange and lemon blossoms and that offers a daily natural show of its thousands of coluours, especially at the sunset.
